‘I cannot wait to sink my teeth into the next one in this series!’ ~ Joyfully Jay

Book one in A Dragon's Treasure series.

How far is Cody willing to go to keep his dragon?

Kirit is lonely and he’s sick of coming home from the king’s assignments to a cold, empty cave. After searching for years for a mate, Kirit decides it’s time to try a new approach. Against the advice of all his friends, he heads for the human side of the world. There he finds Cody, and the man is everything he could ever want. It takes a little bit of persuasion, but he manages to talk Cody into coming back with him to Faerie.

Within a week of arriving, Cody is beginning to rethink his impulsive decision. He’s trekked across more terrain than he would care to remember, been summoned to meet a king, and flown on a dragon—not an experience he’s willing to repeat anytime soon. Kirit’s growly possessiveness is starting to wear on his nerves, and the unexpected hostility he encounters at the palace is almost enough to make him give up.

But Cody is stubborn. He may not be willing to admit it out loud, but Kirit has got under his skin. He may even, shockingly enough, love the big guy.

Now Cody has to decide what he’s willing to do to keep the man of his dreams.

This is the second time that I read this book. As I started out reading this, I was surprised that I didn’t remember anything about this book. It wasn’t until towards the end of the story that I vaguely remembered any of the plot points. The book was okay. Obviously, it isn’t very remarkable because I didn’t remember much about it going into my second reading. It was entertaining, I liked both Cody and Kirit as the main character. The secondary characters were great. I especially liked Chaos. Overall, it’s a good story. Just not a memorable one.

Who doesn't like dragons. Kirit is great. I love that the dragons are so literal, makes for some entertaining dialogue. Cody is fun. I love when he gets all protective and his mouths shoots off only to then remember who he is talking to. No fear
This book had me laughing out loud at times even on the reread
I really enjoyed this book, sometimes I just want a nice shifter romance that doesn't have a lot of "horror", like the mc being captured and tortured. This had a mild evil character but for most part it was tame just fixated on the 2 MCs. I enjoyed Cody his stubborn tough street additude, really good laid back slightly humorous book
- More character development needed for the Fae and King Seamus
- More information needed about court politics
- A better picture needed of the land and towns beyond the Veil

The dragons were portrayed beautifully. Grumpy, brutal warriors on the outside, loving and possessive on the inside. Cody was resilient, tenacious, and loyal. He stood up to his intimidating dragon mate Kirik (whom I loved) and braved the Court for Kirik's sake. I quite liked the couple. Recommended.
I read a lot of books..my has 100s on it..and I rarely leave a review for anything, but I feel this one needs it.

The entire premise of the book is a unique adaptation of rent boy meets older man (in this case, kirit is 100s of years old) who can take care of him. Usually that would be enough to make me not even bother with this in the first place. But the whole fantasy world/dragons thing is interesting.

For future books, which I intend to buy, I would really like to see the characters developed more. Secondary characters like Seamus (the Fae King) and Chaos (one of the other dragons) are done well, but we don't really know very much about the two main characters (Cody and Kirit). The description for the book talks about some sort of big struggle Cody has to fit it, and while there is a a bit of awkwardness, we don't ever really get any indepth writing to show us what, if anything, is going on in Cody's head. Same for Kirit, who is surprisingly absent for a lot of the book, and when we do see him it's pretty much only him saying "Cody! Mine!" ...Yes, we get it......And as for Seamus, the Fae King, the description makes him sound like a central character on which the whole series is going to revolve..but given how we have been introduced to him at this point, he's secondary, and we never get any glimpses really into what he's thinking besides a few interactions with others..we never see what he's actually thinking.

So, on the all, it's a good book and potentially a really good series.
I read so many books and am disappointed that it is positively a miracle of nature when I find one I like so well as this. Like Goldilocks I thought that one book ended in the middle of the story, another had this pretentious weenie alpha who had to be rescued by his mate and a third had a guy that wanted to marry the wicked witch of the west instead of the hero... Well, books have annoyed me lately. That's all I will say about that. But this one was perfect and delicious and funny and had a dragon as the hero. I liked everything about the plot and I loved all the characters. I have been re-reading it off and on since I first got it.

Cody is working as a prostitute in Denver, Colorado, (don't judge him, we never get to hear much about his background except he grew up on the streets and has occasionally been given black eyes) when one of his potential customers is just too attractive to deal with in the regular way. The muscular man named Kirit, who blushes so cutely, insists on feeding him and following him around. It turns out he's a dragon, (yes, the large fire-breathing, flying kind) and Cody is the mate he's been seeking for so long. Unfortunately, for them to be together Cody will have to travel back with Kirit to his homeworld Faerie... where there is no modern technology, only magic. Before they can travel to Kirit's home the king of Faerie insists they visit his castle. The dragons, of which Kirit is an important member, are crucial to the king's power base and political intrigues endanger Cody's life, before he can even start his honeymoon. I especially loved how well the dragon's were described and what different characters they all had. Chaos, a brother dragon, was a riot. The whole book was well done and you get a happy ending and a potential sequal to boot. This is what five stars are all about! Check out "Lucky" Lucky also by this author. Another excellent fantasy story!
